Dolores has extensive experience in the area of neurogenetics and creating engaging scientific content about a variety of current biomedical topics.
Dolores (AKA: Dolores Garcia de Van Aken) received a Master’s in Biotechnology degree from Universidad Complutense, Madrid, and later earned her Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology at the University of California, Davis in 2006. For more than fifteen years, she used her creativity and grant writing skills along with meticulous work to advance our understanding of complex scientific problems, such as the molecular mechanisms that drive neurodegeneration. She joined The Jackson Laboratory in 2012 as a Technical Information Scientist and now manages scientific content generation and support. She enjoys creating engaging scientific content regarding how to use mouse models for research and about current biomedical topics through a variety of media.
