Gabriel E. Rech, Ph.D.

Computational Scientist

Develops computational methods to analyze biological data and turn them into actionable insights. Expert in genomics and passionate about using leading edge technology to enhance the quality of life for all through innovative clinical applications.

I am a Computational Scientist working at the Genome Technologies Team. My role involves developing computational methods for genomic, transcriptomic, and epigenomic research in both basic and translational settings. My most recent interests are in the field of long-read sequencing technologies, specifically in the use of shotgun and targeted sequencing approaches to resolve complex genomic regions.

I am leading computational efforts in R&D projects, including:
Long-read targeted sequencing with applications in genetic diagnostics and transgenic genotyping.
Detection of undesirable genome integration events in transfected cells obtained through gene therapy delivery methods.
Characterization of eccDNAs, a valuable yet under-appreciated genetic material that has potential in the diagnosis, targeted therapy, and prognostic assessment of cancer patients.
Exploration of the potential of liquid biopsies as a noninvasive diagnostic approach in oncology.

I am dedicated to contributing to the advancement of genomics and its positive impact on human healthcare and medicine. I thoroughly enjoy collaborating with individuals from diverse backgrounds and I am always open to discuss new ideas and opportunities for collaboration.
