Offered annually for over 60 years, the ‘Short Course’ is a 2-week program consisting of an immersive set of lectures, workshops, tutorials and demonstrations to understand the breadth of modern human genetics. This year, The Jackson Laboratory is pleased to offer the complete course virtually for you to participate comfortably and safely from your own home.
The course covers basic science and clinical and translational aspects of human genetics and genomics. Topics include gene and variant discovery in Mendelian and complex disease, genome biology, the molecular basis of genetic disease, and the use of animal models of human genetic diseases to understand pathophysiology, treatment and therapy. The faculty includes leaders in contemporary genetics and genomics from Johns Hopkins, The Jackson Laboratory and other institutions around the world.
This year’s course will include on-demand lectures for you to access whenever, wherever. These lectures cover bioinformatics, population genetics, genome manipulation, mutagenesis, phenotyping, and more. Additionally, course faculty will be available via webcast daily for live Q&A’s, panel discussions and virtual demonstrations for a fully immersive and engaging experience.
