Principles and Techniques in Mouse Behavioral Phenotyping and Pharmacology

Participants of this immersion course will be "in residence" in JAX's state-of-the-art mouse behavioral testing facility.  They will conduct their own hands on behavioral experiments each day and have an expert trainer at their disposal at nearly a 1:1 student to teacher ratio.  This course will emphasize best practices as a means to ensure reproducibility, requiring participants to demonstrate proficiency in conducting behavioral tests in mice by reproducing data validation sets under blinded conditions.  Assays will be selected by participants based on their own research interests and include behavioral domains of cognition, social behavior, motor and exploratory behaviors, healthspan and lifespan measures for aging mice and behavioral pharmacology techniques. The course will be led by a team with internationally recognized expertise in mouse behavioral analysis and will leverage the state-of-the-art mouse behavioral testing facilities of the Mouse Neurobehavioral Phenotyping Facility (MNBF) and Center for Biometric Analysis (CBA) at JAX.
