19th Annual Workshop on the Pathology of Mouse Models for Human Disease - Virtual Event

This workshop provides intensive training in pathology and histopathology as well as didactic sessions in which particular disease areas and models will be discussed. Participants will have an opportunity to interact with a group of prominent mouse pathologists and geneticists from leading research institutions.

In previous years, JAX required that you hold a M.D. or D.V.M. to register for this event. Due to the virtual nature of our 2021 workshop, we are pleased to welcome anyone who is interested in pathology and histopathology.

About

This workshop provides a week of intensive training sessions in pathology and histopathology as well as didactic sessions in which particular disease areas and models will be discussed. Participants will have an opportunity to interact with a group of prominent mouse pathologists and geneticists from leading research institutions.

Topics Include:

Nomenclature
Basic mouse genetics
Concepts of mouse model generation
Approaches to working up mutant mice
Role of pathologists at research institutions
Systemic, hematopoietic, mammary, gynecologic, CNS, liver, cutaneous, infectious and immune system pathology
Embryology
Cancer models.

Course Format

This workshop will be presented in a virtual format.

Course lectures will be pre-recorded and made available to attendees in advance of the course. Each course day will include 2 hours of live sessions including panel discussions, Q&A, case presentations, and other networking opportunities with speakers.

Scholarships: Scholarships available for this course are made possible by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, NIH Grants, foundation awards and gifts or donations to The Jackson Laboratory. The Jackson Laboratory strongly encourages students, post-doctoral fellows, or junior faculty from populations under-represented in the biomedical sciences to register, with a preference for those currently enrolled in or working at a U.S. institution. Underrepresented populations are defined by the National Institutes of Health, see NIH NOT-OD-20-031 for definitions.

During registration please include a brief statement to describe your financial need for reduced registration fees, including any employer or institutional support that may be available to you. If adequate criteria is met, the scholarship will be automatically approved and the amount due will be reduced to $25.

*Regardless of registration type, a minimum payment of 50% will be due at the time of registration via credit card. If you need to pay by wire or check please contact the event planner (contact info below) in advancing of completing registration.

Cancellation Policy:

In order to receive a refund on registration, written cancellation (via email) must be received prior to the start date of the course. Refunds will be subject to administrative fees as follows:
-If cancelled prior to 30 days from the course start date, you will be refunded your registration fee less a $10 administrative fee
-If cancelled 7-29 days prior to the course start date, you will be refunded 50% of your registration fee
-If cancelled less than 7 days prior to the course start date, no refund is available

If registered attendee is not able to participate in the course but would like to send a qualified colleague in their place, JAX will transfer the registration fee to a colleague's at no additional price.
