This is a one-of-a-kind workshop on stereotaxic surgery in the laboratory mouse. This three-day intensive hands-on workshop is for those wishing to obtain training in the use of stereotaxic surgical techniques for brain manipulation. In addition to learning about different types of stereotaxic devices, this workshop also covers:
- Survival surgery standards
- How to Read a Vernier scale and Brain Atlas
- Animal Positioning (ear bar placement)
- How to Define Bregma
- Intracranial Drilling
- Intracranial Injections
- Brain Cannulation (Including ICVC and Bi-Lateral)
- CSF (cerebral spinal fluid) collection
Additional procedures may be covered upon request and as time and ACUC approval permits.
*This workshop may be used for continuing education units for AALAS re-certification.
