Christine Goldfarb, Ph.D.

Genomic Technologist IV

Supports research within JAX by overseeing the sequencing of Illumina short-read libraries and preparing custom library preps for specialized projects.

Christine completed her Ph.D. at Boston University, using genetic engineering and NGS sequencing to characterize long non-coding RNAs in the mouse liver and study them in the context of liver sexual dimorphism and drug-induced gene expression changes. She has leveraged this expertise in genetics and genomics and NGS sequencing when joining the Genome Technologies group at JAX. In this role she is responsible for overseeing the sequencing of Illumina libraires prepared both in-house by genomic technologists in CT and ME and by individual labs at JAX, including quality assessment of individual libraries or pools, run planning and basic data QC review before delivery. Christine is also involved in the testing and implementation of new library prep protocols and working on custom library projects with specialized needs. In addition to short-read sequencing, she is also experienced in working with and generating ultra-long read data via the Oxford Nanopore platform.
