Lesley joined The Jackson Laboratory 28 years ago. She began her career as a Research Technician at the University of Guelph (Guelph, Ontario, Canada) and moved into core facility management at Fox Chase Cancer Center (Philadelphia, PA) where she managed the Electron Microscopy Facility for several years. Since joining JAX, her group has grown from two services (Histology and Electron Microscopy) to include an additional two services, Clinical Chemistry and Research Necropsy. Collectively, the Histopathology Sciences (HPS) team offer a broad array of services designed to provide phenotyping at multiple levels.
Histopathology Sciences collects, processes and delivers results that include data from hematology, chemistry and immunoassays, tissues collected and prepared to specification, tissue blocks and slides (paraffin and frozen) as well as samples prepared for transmission and scanning electron microscopy. All requests are customized to the submitter's needs. Histopathology Sciences supports the research staff; this includes collaborating with other core facilities at JAX to provide unique solutions for specialized requests. HPS assists our Diagnostic Laboratory in maintaining the health of our mouse colonies. In addition, it works with our Pre-clinical Services and the Rare Disease & Translational Center to find solutions to projects that have a broader impact.
