Student/Academic Year Fellowship Intern

Bioengineering/translational medicine

Jessica is currently a high school senior at the Loomis Chaffee School and an incoming first-year student at the University of Pennsylvania. In the summer of 2021, she conducted a literature review with Prof. Jianyu Li on hybrid hydrogel treatments for brain aneurysms and subsequently developed a keen interest in the applications in biomedical engineering. During the summer of 2022, she worked in Prof. Xinqiao Jia's lab at the University of Delaware on designing hydrogels for an optimized cell environment as part of salivary gland tissue engineering project. In the summer of 2023, Jessica served as a research trainee in Prof. Shrike Zhang’s lab working on measuring the mechanical properties and synthesizing novel bioadhesives as part of the bioprinting project. Throughout her stay in the Jalili lab, Jessica seeks to expand her knowledge of bioengineering techniques in order to further fuel her understanding of the world.
