Garrett Henry

Instrument Technician I

Utilizing a diverse background in protein science, molecular biology, automation, and maintenance to provide quality scientific equipment support.

After spending ~17 years working in maintenance, repair, and grounds keeping at Larkin's Run kennel of Durham, CT, I returned to Education. I joined Middlesex Community College's newly-revived Biotechnology program and received my Associate's Degree in 2017. I immediately jumped into Industry by acquiring a role as a Research Associate at Abcam of Branford, CT in 2018. There I worked on several Antibody Discovery and Production pipelines, working my way up to Senior Research Associate in 2021. I specialized in Protein Purification and FPLC while learning lab skills such as NGS, mammalian cell culture, transient transfections, splenocyte isolation, and bio-layer interferometry. My focus turned to Automation to assist the team with the growing demands of the high-throughput nature of the company. This included protocol design on the Perkin Elmer JANUS Varispan and MTD platforms, as well as operating Hamilton Star procedures. From there I decided to pursue a new path that would utilize my skills in diagnosis and repair while incorporating my newly acquired experience in the laboratory. I began work at Jackson Laboratory as a Scientific Instrument Technician I in January 2023.
