ChuckHewett will share his perspectives about economic challenges and opportunities in Hancock County, and Maine generally, and suggest key strategies to advance economic progress.

Hewett grew up in Auburn and Winthrop, Maine. He is a graduate of Williams College and earned a Masters of Forest Science and a Ph.D. in economic development from Yale University. Early in his career he served as executive director at Maine Audubon; then became CEO of Swift River/Hafslund, a renewable energy company. Subsequently, he established a pharmaceutical company in Cork, Ireland. Four years later he joined then-Governor Angus King as his chief operating officer at the Capitol. Following his public service, he worked for The Cianbro Companies where he was vice president and led the development of an electric transmission cable from New Jersey to Long Island.

Following Hewett's presentation, at approximately 8:00 p.m., the Hancock County Democrats will convene their regular business meeting.
