Jackson Laboratory President and CEO Edison Liu, M.D., to kick off Maine Center for Creativity 2015 Creative Toolbox Art & Science Series

Portland, Maine – Jackson Laboratory President and CEO Edison Liu, M.D., will headline the first in a series of three Creative Toolbox Art & Science Series of the Maine Center for Creativity on Thursday, April 2, 5:30–7:30 p.m. at the University of Southern Maine Abromson Center’s Hannaford Hall in Portland.

In “An Evening with Edison Liu: A Discussion on Art and Science,” Liu—an accomplished jazz and classical musician as well as a world-renowned cancer and genomics researcher—will incorporate piano music to underscore his discussion of the common factors in musical improvisation and scientific discovery. Part piano recital and part lecture, this unique event will showcase how creativity and innovation in art and science impact all our lives.

“We’re so honored to have a world-class geneticist such as Dr. Liu, who is working right here in Maine, with us to kick off the 2015 Creative Toolbox Art & Science Series,” said Maine Center for Creativity founder and executive director, Jean Maginnis. “He will teach us through music and his deep knowledge of genetics that creativity is in our DNA.”

The presentation is the first of three Creative Toolbox Art & Science Series offerings in 2015, this year themed around the collaboration of the arts and sciences.

The event is a fundraiser for the Maine Center for Creativity and is open to the public. Tickets are $35 per person. To register, contact Cynthia Manzo at cynthia@mainecenterforcreativity.org, or call Jean Maginnis at 207-730-0694.

The 2015 Creative Toolbox Art & Science Series is made possible with the generous support of CBRE | The Boulos Company, UNUM, Artel, Rinck Advertising, Systems Engineering, TK&A, Brainstormbiz.biz, Maine Magazine and Mainebiz.
