Technology investor David Roux is the new chairman of the Board of Trustees of The Jackson Laboratory (JAX).
Roux, co-founder and senior director of Silver Lake, one of the world’s leading private equity firms, was elected at the annual meeting of the board on August 20, succeeding the previous chairman, Philadelphia business leader Leo Holt, who led the board for four years.
Roux became a member of the JAX Board of Trustees in 2011. “There has never been a more exciting time for JAX,” Roux says. “The Jackson Laboratory plays a unique role in the biomedical community–building outstanding scientific tools, conducting collaborative research and developing potential therapies that will advance precision medicine.”
In October 2014, Roux and his wife Barbara made a historic gift to the Laboratory to endow the Roux Family Center for Genomics and Computational Biology. The Center provides three endowed faculty chair positions and a permanent fund for recruiting scientists and supporting research at JAX’s research campuses in Bar Harbor and Farmington, Conn.
