About Microscopy

Philipp Henrich, Ph.D.

Associate Director, Microscopy Service

Philipp has overseen the activities in the Microscopy Service since 2016, first as Sr. Microscopy Scientist and then assuming the role of Associate Director in 2022. Prior to this, he developed his expertise in advanced microscopy modalities including live-cell imaging, confocal microscopy, and electron microscopy and tomography in the context of molecular microbiology and pharmaceutical research at the University of Heidelberg, the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) Heidelberg, and Columbia University. Philipp ensures that users of the Microscopy Service can fully harness basic to state-of-the-art service offerings, including training on the usage of optical imaging equipment.

The Microscopy Service operates state-of-the-art microscopy equipment in our facilities in Bar Harbor, ME, and Farmington, CT. Our team members support the JAX research community, encompassing more than 60 labs and 100+ individuals. Join our team if you are passionate about working with the most advanced technologies in microscopy and conducting image analysis using open-source and commercial software.
