Amalia's research focuses on cardiovascular immunology, with particular interest in adaptive immunity and anti-cardiac autoreactivity following cardiac injury. Her doctoral work at Imperial College London examined the role of the immune system, particularly autoantibodies, macrophages, and B cells, in transgenic mouse models of mitochondria-mediated cardiomyopathies. During her postdoctoral training in the Rosenthal lab, she has been investigating cardiac aging and cellular senescence, characterizing transcriptional changes in the aged mouse heart using multi-omics approaches. Amalia's current project explores therapeutic strategies to modulate immune-driven cardiac remodeling and cardiometabolic balance following ischemic cardiac injury.
