Greg Perry

Cellular Specialist

I am a Cellular Specialist in the Single Cell Biology Core group. We work with the Jackson Laboratory and external PI's to fulfill their single-cell and spatial needs.

I am a Johnson State College alumni as of May 2010 with a bachelors of science in biology with a minor in environmental science, and graduated from the University of Maine in 2023 with a Professional Science Masters with a focus in Bioinformatics. I worked with VT EPSCoR for two years preforming microbial source tracking of E. Coli and determining phosphorus pollution in tributaries of the Lamoille River. I have a keen interest in ecology, and especially microbial ecology. I am currently working as a Molecular and Call Biology Technologist at the Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor. Here I primarily work on custom mouse models for disease study using crispr technologies, molecular cloning, recombineering, and genotyping including PCR, sequencing, and southern blot. I am also responsible database and inventory management, and equipment monitoring and upkeep. In 2021 I transitioned to the Single Cell Biology core at the Jackson Laboratory where I work with 10x Genomics single cell and spatial analysis including standard, high throughput, ATAC, multiome, and fixed RNA. Spatial transcriptomics including visium, cytassist, and IMC. Prior to my science career I trained and worked as a carpenter and tradesman for many years. I have recently started my own business doing small renovations part time for customers where I am responsible for all aspects including quotes, scheduling, either doing the work myself, or contracting it out, and all of the financial aspects of this.
