Steven Holstein is senior vice president, external affairs, at The Jackson Laboratory and a member of the executive team. He leads advancement, communications and marketing, and government and external affairs, with responsibility for aligning partnerships, capital and institutional engagement to advance JAX’s integrated, platform-driven approach to biomedical research.
Holstein focuses on strengthening how JAX connects its scientific platform with the relationships and resources needed to expand its global impact. His work supports long-term growth by ensuring external engagement is closely tied to the institution’s research priorities and translational goals — powering the breakthroughs the world is waiting for.
He brings leadership experience across financial services, health care and life sciences, with a focus on building integrated strategies that connect organizations with the partners, capital and capabilities needed to scale. He previously held senior roles at MassMutual and Guardian, and earlier in his career held leadership positions at Fidelity Investments.
Most recently, Holstein served as managing director and head of business development at Outcome Capital, advising founders, boards and investors on capital formation and strategic partnerships to advance innovation across the life sciences sector.
Holstein holds an MBA from Boston University and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Clark University.
