Qianru Yu, Ph.D.

Microscopy Core Service Manager

Qianru manages the advanced microscopy imaging core at the Jackson Laboratory Farmington Campus. She is interested in developing imaging methodologies with advanced optical microscopy to support JAX research.

Qianru obtained her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Penn State University and worked on advanced microscopy and spectroscopy in intrinsic metabolic cofactors in normal and cancer breast cells. After that, Qianru worked as the imaging core manager at Dartmouth College focusing on cystic fibrosis study using live cell imaging. In 2016, Qianru joined JAX and has been managing the microscopy imaging core at The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine in Farmington, Connecticut. Besides training and technical consultation, Qianru also provides assisted usage to help users optimize imaging procedures. Qianru is always interested in exploring and developing methodologies with advanced microscopes as well as data analysis and proud to support JAX researchers by participating in Scientific Service Innovative Funding projects and co-authored in papers.
