I am interested in understanding sickle cell disease (SCD) and identifying molecular targets that prevent development of sickle cell nephropathy. Specific questions I will address are; What are the mechanisms that drive sudden crises in sickle cell disease patients? Why do some crises last few hours whereas others take days? What are the biomarkers that predict SCD crises?
