Uncovering the Embryonic Origin of Intracranial Germ Cell Tumors (IGCTs) using Single Cell Transcriptomics and Human Stem Cell Modeling.

As an MD/PhD candidate with an interest in pediatric oncology, I want to investigate the relationship between early development and pediatric cancers. IGCTs are rare pediatric and adolescent/young adult brain tumors with incredible diversity. I leverage single cell RNA sequencing and spatial transcriptomics to understand tumor formation and heterogeneity. I am currently developing a human stem cell-based platform to model IGCT; I use in vitro differentiation techniques to observe tumorigenic phenotypes in the cancer cell-of-origin.
