JAX Leap Licensing for Institutions

The Jackson Laboratory has created a program to simplify licensing, making it easy for our commercial and for-profit customers to get access to the strains they need. Individual agreements require more work for your Technology Transfer group and can significantly delay, or prevent, end users from purchasing your strains.

• Under the JAX Leap License, ease of access ensures greater utilization of your strains, and greater financial returns on the investments you make in developing cutting edge tools.
• With a single agreement, customers gain access to all the strains covered under the JAX Leap License. As a donating institution, you have the option to receive royalties on a per-mouse basis without the need for individual agreements with each user.

Once your strains are covered under this simplified license, our Tech Transfer team can rapidly add new users, often in under 24 hours, with no additional paperwork from you, the donating institution. By greatly reducing this initial barrier to access, we have found that more individual users purchase larger numbers of mice, and do so more often.

By adding your strain to the Leap agreement, you can realize the full value of your strains and reduce the burden of underwriting contracts or monitoring usage for your Tech Transfer department.
