The Jackson Laboratory (JAX) and its Center for Systems Neurogenetics of Addiction (Dr. Elissa Chesler, PI) is offering a NIDA-funded research and training program for faculty and trainees in the biomedical and behavioral sciences who are interested in applying genetics and genomics approaches to the study of addiction and addiction-related processes/pathways.
Selected faculty participants are invited to bring up to two trainees (graduate, undergraduate, or postdoctoral) to JAX for a research experience, where teams work directly with JAX faculty mentors and access the Laboratory's advanced research infrastructure. Funding is available to support pilot research project(s) related to the genetics of addiction, with the goal that participants return to their home institutions with new technical skills, data, and resources to support ongoing research, grant applications, and publications.
The program is intended for faculty at any career stage, along with their associated trainees, who want to incorporate model organism genetics and genomics into their addiction research programs. The program is intended for faculty at any career stage with an emphasis on junior and mid-career faculty, along with their associated trainees, who want to incorporate model organism genetics and genomics into their addiction research programs, or to bring addiction research into existing genetics and genomics programs. This is designed to simultaneously support both faculty career development and the training of the next generation of addiction researchers.
