Discover innovations in the fast-growing field of Immuno-cardiology

Join us for our 2nd Immuno-Cardiology Symposium, a 2-day conference exploring how dysregulated immune system function contributes to inflammation and fibrosis in cardiac disease and related disorders in other organ systems such as the kidney, lung and liver. Speakers will cover important topics driving this growing field such as autoimmunity, inflammation resolution, organ fibrosis, novel therapeutics and promising imaging technologies. See coverage of our inaugural meeting in Nature Cardiovascular Research, "Linking immune modulation to cardiac fibrosis."

About

The immune system is an emerging focus of current cardiovascular research, as inflammation and fibrosis are indicators of both heart failure progression and myocardial remodeling. The field of immuno-cardiology has emerged to identify aberrant immune cell activation in heart disease, probing the crosstalk between scar-producing fibroblasts and immune cells to discover promising therapeutics that can intervene in tissue fibrosis, arrhythmia and heart failure.

This year, the 2nd Immuno-Cardiology Symposium expands its impact to report on immunological findings that relate to inflammation and fibrosis in organ systems such as the kidney, lung and liver. Special attention will be given to emerging diagnostic and imaging techniques that help assess and model disease progression, and the development of novel therapeutics to intervene in key pathways that are dysregulated in patients suffering from cardiovascular and related pathologies.

Program Highlights

This 2-day Symposium is hosted by the “Immuno-FIB” Leducq Foundation Network of Excellence and will be held in-person at The Jackson Laboratory (Day 1) and MDI Biological Laboratory (Day 2) in Bar Harbor, Maine. We invite early-stage investigators and trainees to submit abstracts to be selected for 15-minute talks or poster presentations.

Session topics

  • Immune aspects of cardiac biology
  • Cellular and molecular control of cardiac inflammation
  • Immune regulation and interventions in cardiac repair and fibrosis
  • Translation across organ systems: kidney, vasculature
  • Translation across organ systems: lung and liver

Keynote Speakers

  • Katherine Yutzey PhD, University of Cincinnati, USA
  • Ben Hindson, PhD, CSO of 10X Genomics, USA
  • Filip Swirski, PhD, Mount Sinai, USA

Travel funds for trainee and ESI presentations were provided by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute of the National Institutes of Health under Award Number R13HL182314.
