Heterozygous carriers of the brachyury 11 Jackson mutation have shortened tail length that sometimes includes tail kinks or a blunted tail. The tail placement can be abnormal and in some instances the anus is closed.
The brachyury 11 Jackson mutation arose spontaneously in the C57BL/6J inbred strain at The Jackson Laboratory in May, 20011. This dominant mutation was maintained by backcrossing to C57BL/6J for 3 generations before sperm were cryopreserved from heterozygous males.
|Allele Name||brachyury 11 Jackson|
|Allele Type||Chemically induced (ENU)|
|Gene Symbol and Name||T, brachyury, T-box transcription factor T|
