This is a remutation to bouncy (bc) on the C57BL/6J background. Current nomenclature for this allele is Kcnn2bc-8 (potassium intermediate/small conductance calcium-activated channel, subfamily N, member 2; bouncy 8 Jackson).Read More +
Similar to the original bouncy allele (bc), mice homozygous for bouncy 8J (bc8J) exhibit moderate tremors, an impaired (bouncy) gait and small body size. This mutant mouse strain may be useful in neurological studies of motor coordination.
The bouncy 8 Jackson mutation arose spontaneously on the C57BL/6J background in November, 2009, and has been maintained on this background ever since.
