Mice homozygous for the ruby-eye 7 Jackson mutation have ruby colored eyes and a grey coat on this predominantly C57BL/6J background.
The ruby-eye 7 Jackson mutation arose spontaneously in the B6.129S4-Cd86tm1Shr/J strain (stock #003609). This mutant subline was backcrossed once to C57BL/6J and selectively intercrossed to bred out the targeted mutation and this strain has been maintained subsequently by sibling mating.
