Mice homozygous for the shimmy 2 Jackson mutation have a shaking wobbling gait evident by 5 weeks of age and appear to vibrate when held by their tails.
The shimmy 2 Jackson mutation arose spontaneously in 2001 on B10.D1-H2q/SgJ when that strain was at generation F28. This strain has been maintained via sibling mating primarily homozygous females with heterozygous males.

Males homozygous for shimmy (shmy) do not breed, but males homozygous for the shimmy 2 Jackson re-mutation have been shown to breed, albeit with less success than female homozygotes.
