Detailed description

Whll/+ mice have a moderate circling phenotype accompanied by a mild hearing impairment.

Development

The dominant mutation wheels-like (Whll) arose spontaneously in the C57L/J inbred strain, and due to poor viability, male heterozygotes were backcrossed to C57BL/6J. In 2003 embryos were generated for cryopreservation via in vitro fertilization using C57BL/6J females and heterozygous males at N7.
