This transgenic mouse was constructed with a rearranged genomic segment derived from the Tcrb locus. T lymphocytes express the transgenic TCRB chain on cell surfaces while the protein products encoded by endogenous Tcrb genes are not expressed. Homozygous mice generally don't survive beyond postnatal week four. This strain may provide a specific developmental marker for a prothymocyte lineage subset that lacks pluripotential properties.
The Tcrb genomic segment was constructed from B6 (Tcrb-V8.2,Tcrb-D) and BALB/c (Tcrb-J, Tcrb-C) sequences. The construct was injected into pronuclei from CBA/BrA X C57BL/LiA (F1)mice. To establish the line, a male founder was mated to a female C57L.

When maintaining a live colony, hemizygous mice may be bred to wildtype mice from the colony or to C57L/J inbred mice (Stock No. 000668). The expected coat color from breeding is leaden.

To ensure that JAX® Mice will meet the needs of individual research projects or when requesting a strain that is new to your research, we suggest ordering and performing tests on a small number of mice to determine suitability for your particular project. We do not guarantee breeding performance and therefore suggest that investigators order more than one breeding pair to avoid delays in their research.
