Detailed description

These mice carry a spontaneous remutation at the Kit locus. Kit^W-73J interacts with both Kit^W-v/+ and Mitf^Mi-wh/+ to produce black eyed white offspring in the F1. Homozygous Kit^W-73J mice are not viable.

Development

The Kit^W-73J remutation occurred in 1998 on DBA/2J (Stock No. 000671), and was cryopreserved in 1989 by mating heterozygous males to C57BL/6J females.
