These F1 (first filial generation) hybrid mice are the offspring of a cross between C3HeB/FeJ females (C3Fe) and C57BL6J-Aw-J males (B6). Uses include hybrid vigor, as a background for deleterious mutations, to create or enhance expression of polygenic diseases, to determine the mode of inheritance, and to provide physiological buffering (present a broader array of responses to various stresses).
This F1 hybrid is no longer maintained, but can be generated by crossing C3HeB/FeJ females (Stock No. 000658) with C57BL/6J-Aw-J/J males (Stock No. 000051).

These F1 (first filial generation) hybrid mice are the offspring of a cross between C3HeB/FeJ females (C3Fe) and C57BL6J-Aw-J males (B6). F1 hybrid mice are heterozygous at all loci (assuming the parental strains have different alleles), and like inbred mice they are genetically and phenotypically uniform. F1 hybrids are often used for hybrid vigor, as a background for some deleterious mutations, for tissue transplantation, to determine the mode of inheritance, to create or enhance expression of polygenic diseases, and to provide physiological buffering (present a broader array of responses to various stresses).
