Mice homozygous for the reeler 7 Jackson mutation can be identified by two weeks of age by their ataxia, having a side-to-side leaning gait. They have difficulty keeping the hindquarters upright and frequently fall on their side. They die before adulthood.
The reeler 7 Jackson mutation arose spontaneously on the C57BL/6J inbred background at The Jackson Laboratory in 2006 and has been maintained on this background.
