SYN-NBL10 transgenic mice express an N-terminal fusion protein consisting of the VHH fragment (nanobody) of camelid antibody raised against green fluorescent protein (GFP) fused to large ribosomal subunit protein Rpl10a (ribosomal protein L10A ; also called NBL10) under the control of the human neuron-specific synapsin (SYN) promoter. Expression of the transgene allows for the immunoprecipitation of translating mRNAs in the presence of GFP (e.g. after intracellular injections of GFP-tagged retrograde tracing virus such as canine adenovirus type 2 (CAV-GFP)).
