IL25-Cre knock-in mice express humanized Cre recombinase from an internal ribosomal entry site inserted in the 3&rsquo;UTR of interleukin 25 (Il25) gene. Endogenous IL25 protein production is unaffected by the mutation. When crossed with mice carrying loxP-flanked sequences of interest, Cre-mediated excision of the floxed regions occurs in Il25-expressing cells, including tuft cells in various tissues.

This strain has been useful in studies of the inflammation and dysfunction of the extrahepatic biliary tree, common causes of human pathology, including gallstones and cholangiocarcinoma.
