Nps-2A-Cre CRISPR-derived knock-in mice are designed to have 2A-Cre sequence inserted downstream of the coding region of the neuropeptide S (Nps) gene. Nps-expressing neurons have been identified in the hindbrain, hypothalamus, and habenula. NPS has been found to both increase wakefulness and hyperactivity, as well as reduce anxiety-related behaviors and appetite. NPS is a ligand for the orphan G-protein-coupled receptor NPSR1, mutations of which have been associated with the onset of reduced sleep duration, panic disorders, anxiety, asthma, endometriosis, and other inflammatory disorders. The presence of 2A-Cre cassette allows for expression of Nps and Cre. Homozygous mice are viable and fertile. When these mice are bred with mice containing loxP-flanked sequence, Cre-mediated recombination will result in deletion of the loxP-flanked sequences in Cre-expressing cells.

Nps-2A-Cre CRISPR-derived knock-in mice are designed to have 2A-Cre sequence inserted downstream of the coding region of the neuropeptide S gene. The endogenous Nps promoter directs expression of Cre recombinase to neurons in the amygdala and in the brain stem near the parabrachial nucleus (PB) involved in wakefulness and anxiety-related behaviors. These mice are useful for studying the connectivity and function of NPS neurons.

Typically mice are recovered in 12-16 weeks. Contact Customer Service to place an order or for more information.
