SF1-Cre BAC transgenic mice express Cre recombinase from the mouse Nr5a1 (nuclear receptor subfamily 5, group A, member 1; also called SF-1) promoter in the somatic cells of the gonads, the adrenal cortex, the anterior pituitary, the spleen, and the ventromedial hypothalamic nucleus.

Development

Cre recombinase cDNA fused to bGH polyadenylation sequence was introduced to exon 2 of the mouse Nr5a1 (SF-1) gene carried on a BAC from the CT67 mouse library (Invitrogen clone 572J24). The BAC contains the Nr5a1 structural gene and 23 kb of 5’-flanking region (also encoding Gcnf and 88 kb of 3’-flanking region (also encoding Gpr144 and Psmb7). The BAC was injected into B6D2F1/J embryos, then hemizygotes were bred to C57BL/6 for an unknown number of generations. This is founder line 2, carrying 5 copies of the transgene (the integration site is unknown).

Upon arrival at The Jackson Laboratory, sperm was cryopreserved. Cryorecovery/live colony development will involve C57BL/6J (Stock No. 000664). (August, 2022)
