Foxp1 (forkhead box P1) plays an essential role in heart, central nervous system, and lung development, in tumor progression of multiple cancer types, and in immune cell differentiation. &nbsp;In the adaptive immune system, it facilitates early B cell development, opposing follicular helper T (TFH) cell differentiation, and maintaining quiescence of na&iuml;ve T cells. FOXP1 forms homodimers and can also heterodimerize with FOXP3, which forms large protein complexes in regulatory T (Treg) cells. FOXP1 deficiency in Treg cells results in their impaired function and competitive fitness. Exon 11 of the mouse gene is flanked by loxP sites in this Foxp1fl conditional mutant strain. Cre recombinase-mediated excision of the floxed region results in a knock-out allele.When crossed with Foxp3YFP-cre mice (Stock No. <a href="https://www.jax.org/strain/016959">016959</a>), a full knock-out of Foxp1 is achieved in the Treg cell compartment.
