The androgen signaling pathway, mediated through the androgen receptor (AR), is critical in prostate tumorigenesis. These R26hARloxP mice conditionally express Flag-tagged human androgen receptor from the Gt(ROSA)26Sor/CMV promoter upon cre recombinase-mediated excision of a floxed Stop cassette. The Flag tag has been used for immunoprecipitation, however it has proven difficult to detect using Western blot and immunohistochemistry. Progeny derived from a cross of these R26hARloxP mice with an Tg(Osr1-cre)4Mrt strain demonstrate AR expression in both luminal and basal epithelial cells of mouse prostatic glands. A total 18 of 40 transgenic mice in one study (PMID:21795h710) showed prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia (PIN) lesions between 6 and 20 months of age. Four mice developed prostatic adenocarcinomas, two of which demonstrated an invasive phenotype.

R26hARloxP mice conditionally express Flag-tagged human androgen receptor (AR) from the Gt(ROSA)26Sor/CMV promoter upon cre recombinase-mediated excision of a floxed Stop cassette. This strain enables the production of mice that mimic features of human prostate cancer.

Typically mice are recovered in 12-16 weeks. Contact Customer Service to place an order or for more information.
