The Pex7 (peroxisomal biogenesis factor 7) gene encodes a member of the peroxisomal assembly (PEX) proteins and is involved in the transport of enzymes for the assembly and function of peroxisomes. Mutations in this gene are associated with peroxisome biogenesis disorders (PBDs).CRISPR/cas9 endonuclease mediated genome editing of the Pex7 exon 3 created a 580 bp deletion that includes exon 3 (indel mutation). If additional characterization of these Pex7del580 mice is performed, we may modify the strain description accordingly. Heterozygous mice are viable and fertile. Homozygous mice are embryonic-or-perinatal lethal.
