MiR-153 (Mir153) microRNA is embedded in intron 19 of the mouse Ptprn2 (protein tyrosine phosphatase, receptor type, N polypeptide 2) gene which encodes a major type 1 diabetes autoantigen. Mir153 is highly expressed in pancreas and brain. Evidence implicates it in cancer and it also has neuronal function regulating vesicle exocytosis (a similar function has been noted in pancreatic cells).
In these CRISPR/Cas9-generated "miR-153 conditional KO" mice, Mir153 was flanked by loxP sites. Cre-mediated excision of the region deletes Mir153 without affecting Ptprn2 expression.
A Ptprn gene located on mouse Chromosome 1 was not specifically checked for mutations. However, the guide RNAs used for this strain do not have significant homology to the Ptprn gene, so no mutation would be expected at that locus. Off‐target screening for 20 potential sites was carried out by the donating laboratory, but none were found to be mutated in founders.
These mice may be useful in studies of cancer biology, neuronal function (both developmentally and post-developmentally), and in the physiology of the pancreas.

Mir153 (microRNA 153), located in intron 19 of the Prptrn2 (protein tyrosine phosphatase, receptor type, N polypeptide 2) gene, is flanked by loxP sites in these conditional mutant CRISPR/Cas9-generated mice. Cre-mediated excision of the region deletes Mir153 without affecting Ptprn2 expression.

Typically mice are recovered in 12-16 weeks. Contact Customer Service to place an order or for more information.
