The X-linked Zc4h2 (zinc finger, C4H2 domain containing) gene encodes a zinc finger protein involved in neuronal development. Mutations in this gene are associated with Miles-Carpenter syndrome (MCS).To create the Zc4h2em3Lutzy (Zc4h2del394) allele, CRISPR/Cas9 endonuclease-mediated genome editing of exon 3 was used to delete 394 nucleotides resulting in the complete loss of exon 3 and a predicted null allele. If additional characterization of these mice is performed, we may modify the strain description accordingly. Heterozygous females are viable and fertile. Hemizygous males and homozygous females are embryonic-or-perinatal lethal. The strain is not viable on the C57BL/6J background and is maintained on a mixed C57BL/6J and FVB/NJ background.

Zc4h2del394 is a CRISPR/cas9 generated mutant of the zinc finger, C4H2 domain containing gene with a 394 nucleotide deletion resulting in the complete loss of exon 3. Mice homozygous for the mutation are not viable. These mice may be useful in studying Miles-Carpenter Syndrome.
