CRISPR/cas9 endonuclease mediated genome editing of the Hrh1, histamine receptor H1, gene was used to introduce a 1052 bp deletion mutation. The targeted Hrh1 gene encodes a receptor of histamine and mediates the action of histamine in immune function, neurotransmission and metabolism. Homozygotes do not develop hypothermia as a result of 2-pyridylethylamine (histamine H1 agonist) challenge. Homozygous mice are viable and fertile.&nbsp; Specific tissue expression of the allele has not been tested.
