Nexmif gene encodes a protein involved in neuronal morphogenesis, migration, and synapse formation. Mutations in this gene have been associated with X-linked intellectual disability. CRISPR/Cas9 endonuclease mediated genome editing of X-linked Nexmif exon 4 created a 1 nucleotide insertion (G) in exon 4 (indel mutation). If additional characterization of these Nexmifins1 mice is performed, we may modify the strain description accordingly. Homozygous females and hemizygous males are viable and fertile.
