The targeted Cebpb gene encodes a transcription factor that is important in immune and inflammatory response. Mutations in this gene have been associated with Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia and Short-Rib Thoracic Dysplasia 2 With Or Without Polydactyly. These mice possess loxP sites on either side of the Cebpb gene and flanking sequence, including 228 bp downstream of Cebpb polyadenylation site and 227 bp upstream of the Cebpb initiation start site. Mice that are homozygous for this allele are viable and fertile. When these mutant mice are bred to mice that express Cre recombinase, resulting offspring will have the Cebpb gene deleted in the cre-expressing tissues.
Removal of the floxed sequence creates a null allele. 

 When bred to a strain with Cre recombinase expression in myeloid cells, this mutant mouse strain may be useful in studies of sepsis inflammation.

These floxed mutant mice possess loxP sites flanking the Cebpb gene including 228 bp downstream of the Cebpb polyadenylation site and 227 bp upstream of the Cebpb initiation start site. This strain may be useful for generating conditional mutations in applications related to myelopoiesis and immune response.
