Lrit3 (leucine-rich repeat, immunoglobulin-like and transmembrane domains 3) encodes a protein with a fibronectin type III domain, a C-terminal transmembrane domain, a leucine-rich repeat domain and a immunoglobulin-like domain near the N-terminus. Mutations in Lrit3 are associated with congenital stationary night blindness, type 1F. This ENU-induced mutation, tvrm257, was identified as a leucine to proline substitution (L134P). Mice homozygous for the mutation exhibit an absent electroretinogram (ERG) beta-wave, although the alpha wave is normal, and an abnormal cone ERG. Gross retinal morphology appears normal. This strain may be useful for studying proteins expressed in depolarizing bipolar cells.

These ENU-induced tvrm257 mice carry an L134P mutation in the Lrit3 (leucine-rich repeat, immunoglobulin-like and transmembrane domains 3) gene. ERG analysis indicates that mice homozygous for the mutation lack a beta wave.
