These mtOVA transgenic mice express a serum-soluble form of chicken ovalbumin (sOVA) under the regulatory control of the mouse Mt1 (metallothionein 1) promoter.

Adoptive transfer of OVA-specific T cells from DO11 mice (see Stock No. <a href="https://www.jax.org/strain/003303"">003303</a>) into the mtOVA mice have been used to study immune responses to self-antigen. They were instrumental in demonstrating that B7 molecules promote effective T cell priming and contain effector responses when self-antigens are presented as foreign.

These transgenic mice express a soluble form of chicken ovalbumin under the control of the mouse Mt1 promoter. Protein can be detected circulating in the serum.
