Homozygotes are smaller than normal, lean side to side, tremor all over, and may die at approximately 3 weeks of age. There are fewer than 25% homozygotes born to heterozygous intercrosses. Males are sterile and an attempt a sperm cryopreservation from two homozygotes found no sperm.
The scrambler 2 Jackson mutation arose spontaneously in an MRL/MpJ congenic of a transgene, which was bred out of this mutant subline. Cryopreserved sperm from heterozygous males is recovered with C57BL/6J oocytes.
|Allele Name||scrambler 2 Jackson|
|Allele Type||Spontaneous (Not Specified)|
|Gene Symbol and Name||Dab1, disabled 1|
|Strain of Origin||MRL.129P2(B6)-B2mtm1Unc/Dcr|
|Molecular Note||Dab1scm-2J is a remutation to Dab1scm by a direct test for allelism.|
This strain must be maintained by intercrossing heterozygotes and homozygous males do not produce sperm.
