Detailed description

Caracul 19 Jackson heterozgyotes have the wavy coat and wavy vibrissae typical of keratin 71 mutations. Histology of three heterozgyotes found mild dermatitis on the snout of two and one of those also had hyperplastic mammary ducts.

Development

This mutation arose spontaneously in the BALB/cJ inbred strain at The Jackson Laboratory and has been maintained coisogenic on this background ever since.
