These mice carry a germline knockout allele of the Dpf3 (BAF45c) gene which is normally expressed in the brain, heart, skeletal muscle and the kidney.

Detailed description

This strain carries a germline knockout allele of the Dpf3 (D4, zinc and double PHD fingers, family 3; also known as BAF45c) gene created through a deletion of exon 4. Mutant animals have no phenotype, but may when placed in combination with other BAF gene mutations.

Development

A loxP-FRT-neomcyin-FRT cassette was introduced to intron 3 and a single loxP site was placed in intron 4 using an unspecified embryonic stem cell line. Exon 4 and the neomycin cassette were excised through crosses with a germline Cre strain of unknown genetic background. The donating laboratory believes the strain is a mix of C57BL/6 and 129.
