These targeted mutation mice carry a nuclear exporter sequence in the Fkbp1a (FK506 binding protein 1a) gene. Expression has been confirmed in fibroblasts and embryonic stem cells. No abnormal phenotype has been reported.
Nuclear exporter sequence (NES) was introduced to exon 4 before the stop codon and a loxP-flanked neomycin resistance cassette was placed in intron 5. The mutation was created in a 129Sv-derived embryonic stem cell line and the resultant mice were crossed to 129S1/SvImJ for nine generations by the donating laboratory.
